What a busy few months! This is a newsletter to sum up what Grow has been up to…

Mindfulness in Bedford

8 Week Mindfulness Workshops

Since before Christmas, Grow have been running back to back 8 week mindfulness courses on Tuesday evenings at 7.45pm and every one has been fully booked! It seems that the demand for learning mindfulness skills is increasing in Bedford, which is really great news given the amount of research pointing to numerous mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing benefits. We are now taking a break until August 21st, when the next 8 week mindfulness course will kick off. Places are already filling up and you can book on the course here.

There have been a few requests for courses to be run on other days / times, and although there is nothing concrete planned yet, these requests have been noted and hopefully we will be able to accomodate these requests soon!

A big big thank you to BedPop for letting us set up shop at Taste Bedford this year in order to promote wellbeing through nutrition. We had a fabulous time! Wini Thomas, a local Osteopath, (http://winithomas.co.uk/)brought some great home made rhubarb juice , and also brought her lovely daughter Mia along to help out and offer free mini consultations.

We also had some yummy vegan curry on offer thanks to Rak Dimmock and the rest of the Dimmock family.

We were also offering mindfulness with strawberries amongst other things, which seemed to be a real hit with the kids 😉

International Yoga Day Supper Club

Thanks to Angela Coops, Wini Thomas and The Pavilion in Bedford Park for another successful Supper Club, this one in order to celebrate International Yoga Day.

Angela really gave us a thorough and interesting talk on the benefits of yoga, as well as taking us through some useful practical seated exercises… by the end, we were all so relaxed that we struggled to leave our seats and go home! 🙂

Coming up…

Tavistock Community Centre, Bedford

We are still waiting to hear on whether our bid has been successful to turn Tavistock Community Centre into a ‘Hive of Wellbeing’ for Bedford. Initially, we were due to receive news from the council by the end of April, but due to delays at their end, we are hopeful to receive news any day. Watch this space!

Grow Men

We are planning a weekly men’s group which will be starting in the near future. Grow Men’s primary objective is to create a space for men to connect in an open and authentic way with each other. A safe space for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual exploration, challenge and growth. A secondary objective will later be to mentor other men, passing on experience, strength and wisdom and to act as positive male role models in the larger community. If you would be interested in being involved, please contact us.

Dynamic Meditation (children friendly!)

We are planning to start a weekly group specifically for stressed out parents and wound up kids. The idea of this group will be for both parents and kids (as well as anyone else!) to let rip, go wild, shout, scream, dance and come into touch with their bodies using dymnamic meditation techniques. This will be kicking off in September. Another mailer will be sent out beforehand to let you all know further details.
